Welcome to the third room of the museum. The Middle Ages were not the "Dark Ages" often depicted: it was a world of invention, healing, and celebration-and this room is the proof.
Decorated with frescoes from the 15th century, this room is the perfect setting for the reenactment of the Grande Corteo Storico, one of the highlights of the Corsa all'Anello.
Through a wonderful videoprojection you will attend the preparatory stages in the backstage, until you get to the parade of the Corteo that proposes the political, social and religious fabric of Narni Medieval.
An in-depth study will allow you to discover how costumes are born: a timely historical and sartorial reconstruction of a high level, enriched by the opportunity to know the Ladies
who wore these extraordinary creations!
Two paths await you to discover a side of the Middle Ages you never expected.
Path 1 – The Historical Procession and Tailoring
Over a thousand participants, silk robes, gold-thread embroidery, and heraldic crests: the grand historical procession of the Corsa all'Anello is considered one of the finest in Italy. But how are these extraordinary costumes created? Behind every garment lies meticulous craftsmanship. Through historical research, precious fabrics, and symbols, the identity of each Terziere (district) is told. Come and discover the secrets of a sartorial art that comes to life every year in the ancient streets of Narni.
Path 2 – Inventions and Medicine
Did you know that without the Middle Ages, we wouldn't have glasses, pasta, the compass, or the numerals we use every day? Or that medieval hospitals were already using balanced diets, medicinal herbs, and even anesthetics? It was an era of constant invention and wonder, far more advanced than history often suggests.
